There are extra folders displaying in my Manage Subscriptions and those are creating extra folders in my PST. There are no subscriptions attached to these folders and they are unnecessary. They are even duplicating. If I delete from the PST they recreate when updating the subscriptions. How do I remove these folders?

Are you synchronizing with NewsGator Online? If the folders exist there, delete them in Online and in Inbox.

Make a backup of your subscriptions by selecting them in the subscription manager and clicking the Export button. This will save them off as OPML.

Next, uninstall Inbox and make sure everything gets cleaned out correctly. %localappdata%\NewsGator\Inbox is where all the files live (in Vista - if using XP let me know and I'll give you that path instead). Make sure that directory is deleted. I would delete the old PST as well. Or just close it in Outlook and move it to another directory if you want to keep an archive of older posts.

Install Inbox again after. Then go to Add Subscriptions, click the Advanced Options button, and select the last option "I want to import feeds". Follow the rest of the wizard to import back the subscriptions you exported before uninstalling.

That should get everything back to normal. I'll put a ticket in our bug tracking system to try and figure out how the folder structure get corrupt in the first place.

Thank you!

I'm not sure how some folders were created. I was using the post to parent folder, then switched to post in new folder and was moving subscriptions around.

The easiest way to recreate it is to just create a new folder in the Add Subscription workflow but not add any subscriptions under the folder.. There is no way to delete the unused folder.
