Hi,

Since the iPhone OS3.0 upgrade, I have been having problems viewing www.newsgator.com on the phone.  I am able to log in ok but once I get to the main screen (recommended stories) or click on one of my feed folders/clippings etc, I am unable to scroll the panel on the right.  Therefore I can only view the stories/feed items which are immediately visible but no others.

If I try to scroll then the whole page just moves up leaving a black region at the bottom of the screen (almost like it was an image with no more content below).  It seems to correspond with the treeview panel on the left so almost as if it is using that panel to decide where the bottom of the page ends.

I've not come across any other websites which have the same problem but as I said this has only happened since the OS3.0 upgrade.

I've tested the same behaviour on 2 x IPhone 3G and 1 x IPhone 3GS now but strangely the scrolling still worked ok on an original IPhone I tried (all running OS3.0).

I am aware I can use m.newsgator.com and the IPhone app (both of which I do) but I also like to use www.newsgator.com when browsing through/managing  clippings etc so would be good to have it fixed

I realise it could be an IPhone problem but if there is any tweaks which could be made to the site to fix it there then that would also be appreciated.

Let me know if you need any more details

Thanks

Is anybody else seeing the same behaviour? If so, what phone do you have?

Anybody suggest a workaround?

I'm not really following along with your logic why m.newsgator.com is not an acceptable solution to "manage clippings," so please provide more details.

At this time our resources are limited, so I'd have to make a pretty solid case to try advocating time and resources to pursue enhances for this request.

I like to use the IPhone app whilst on the train etc, where I have frequent periods without network connectivity.  As a result, I'll usually clip anything which I either want to read later on or can't read fully without opening the link.

Usually I will then use www.newsgator.com to browse through my clippings on a PC, either deleting them when read or maybe tagging them in some way for later reading/reference.  I may also pull up my tags and browse through the items in there.  Basically, I do this quite regularly on my phone too (when I do have network connectivity) also through www.newsgator.com (or did until this scrolling issue).

The limitations of using m.newsgator.com (unless I'm mistaken) are that I can't tag any items, can't pull up any of my tags and also can't really view my clippings properly (I know I can create a custom RSS feed from them but I can't view them directly and delete them from my clippings once read etc).

To my knowledge, m.newsgator.com is more similar to what I do using the IPhone app (i.e. reading new feed items) but doesn't help me if I want to read or manage items I've previously clipped and am coming back to read

Thank you for the additional feedback, your additional comments helped me visualize the use case.

The developer of NNW has indicated he will consider adding tagging, but only if he can assure the user experience can be done well enough.

At this time I will submit a case so our dev team can review why the new OS for the iPhone may have caused this issue of not being able to scroll, but I cannot provide a time frame as to when they will have an opportunity to investigate because of other priorities which are utilizing their time.
