I have a Style over at LiveJournal that allows me to read my Friends' Page in NetNewsWire. It's been working splendidly up until the 23rd, at which point it stopped updating no matter what I did. I could read items to get rid of them, I could manually refresh-- no changes. I read the sticky post here and tried to check the status of it, but it wasn't even listed, which I figured was because I didn't sync to NewsGator, but my MobileMe account. When I changed the sync settings, suddenly a good 400 items from the feed vanished!

Even so, it's still not pulling the right updates; rather than pulling my friends' updates, it pulls JUST mine (I am friended on my own list, but if it's getting the updates from there, why isn't it pulling the other ones?)

Previously, this feed was contained in a folder (by itself), but the settings weren't blocking updates or anything. I didn't change anything on or near 6/23, so I don't know why this is happening. Does NNW have a limit to how many items it can hold in a single feed, or how many feeds total we can subscribe to and sync with at the same time?

When I look at My Feeds here at NewsGator, there's nothing listed in the Status column, and the Ping doesn't appear to work at all.

Please help!

There is no limit to number of feeds or items in feeds. Have you tried unsubscribing and re-subscribing? Try it as not-synced first, to see if it works.

My guess is that something at the LiveJournal side changed, since nothing in your setup changed.

Tried un-subscribing and re-subscribing, as well as disabling syncing; nothing worked. It may be that something's changed on the LJ end, though I can't imagine what; the style and layout that make an RSS feed of my friends' page possible are still there; perhaps LJ changed something about their S2 layout/style coding and how it gets handled.

Interestingly, when I try to validate the feed, it looks like it's at least reaching LJ, but NNW gets confused because it's seeing the "warning" page asking me to login. Even though I've supplied my credentials in the Get Info box and saved the changes (and tried restarting with them saved as well), it still doesn't "login" to the feed.

It sounds like it's using cookies, which is a big no-no in the RSS world. Is there a way to login using standard http authentication instead? Some LiveJournal feeds do offer a separate feed URL that uses standard authentication -- that should work perfectly.

I actually thought this WAS a way of doing http authentication. The URL is based off a style sheet and layout on LiveJournal, specifically: http://the-sweet.livejournal.com/friends?s2id=28798053

And it's always worked before with no "cookie" issues. I know some other LJ solutions for getting an RSS read of the Friends' Page make use of cookies, but it was always my understanding that this wasn't one of them.
