I just installed 3.2 beta and now i am *forced* to look at the ads? That's on top of switching to the Google Reader, which does not even work with iPhone version of NNW.
The Deck
NetNewsWire 3.2 also displays ads from The Deck. You’ve seen their ads on places like A List Apart and Daring Fireball.
(The ads are displayed in the lower-left corner of the application, where before we had the thumbnail/NewsGator-news feature. They’re not in-line; they’re not embedded in the articles.)
But we know, because people have told us, that they’d be willing to pay to remove the ads. We haven’t set that up yet, but we will.
I do not know who told you what, but i am not willing to pay for NNW yet AGAIN! I already bought it once, then i paid and upgrade price, then it went free and now back to paid version, so i have to pay just to be able to remove the stupid deck ads?
Screw you. This is a HUGE FAIL on your end and looks like i am switching to another RSS reader.

I have to chime in here with a big WTH?
I already paid for NNW for Mac and now you switch to an ad supported free version and I have no way to get rid of the ads? Not good.

I agree... I'm very, very dissapointed
We had to wait all this time for Reader sync and freakin' ads ???
I also don't believe users actually said they would pay for an ad-free version... you guys really think we're that stupid ?
Time to leave !

| This is terrible... Since I've never paid for a feed reader, and I was happy to switch to NNW when it became free - I *may* consider paying, but it really depends on the price. Regardless, the size and placement of this ad is UNACCEPTABLE. If this is a beta version, PLEASE find a way to turn it off until the full production release is available. It keeps me from wanting to even use this Beta.

| Like many others here, I've already paid for NetNewsWire twice and don't intend to pay again to get rid of ads -- time to move on.

| Have to agree... I happily paid for NNW when it was a pay product, and shrugged when it went free: I didn't mind having paid to support it. But now it includes ads? In fairness, there ought to be a way for people who paid once to opt out of the ads without having to pay again. That feels like cheating.

| The ads don't bother me at all. It's sitting in the bottom corner of the window and it's very unobtrusive. It's not too different than the thumbnail that used to be there, which I didn't really care about. Let the ads stay. It's no big deal.

it is a big deal to me. and you were able to hide the thumbnail window by clicking little button at the bottom left of NNW window.

This ad is VERY obtrusive. Before, I could see my whole feed list down the left side, now this ad takes up almost a third of the feed list pane. I paid for NNW and now it turns into adware?
I understand a paid version is on the way that will not have the ads, but is there some reason this could not have waited until both versions were available so we could gauge the price/benefit and make a decision?
