I got your email today about Newsgator Online closing on the 31st August. I switched to Google reader easily enough but I can't find on Google Reader the option to display RSS healdines on my website (the way I used to with Newsgator Online). Does Google Reader do this? and if not can you please advise what to do?

The other thing i was thinking about was to become an enterprise cuastomer and pay for the service. is that possible?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Google Reader has the ability to generate RSS feeds from shared items, tags, etc. You can make these feeds public under the settings.

As for repurposing those feeds within a website, I'm not aware of any parcticular function on that part, but because RSS feeds are standards based, you should be able to find plugins/add-ons/sample code/etc. to incorporate feeds within a web page. I know that Wordpress has an RSS display component, for example.

Update: Forgot to specifically answer your question about Enterprise. I'm not really sure that NG's Enterprise solution would give you what you need in the case, or, even if it did, whether it would be cost effective. That said, you can find out more about their Enterprise solutions here: http://www.newsgator.com/business/enterpriseserver/default.aspx

I must have had thousands of clippings and flagged articles. All gone now. Lost forever. Thanks for no warning. Then there were the sub-folders keeping the 232 feeds organised. All gone. Thank you Newsgator. I am one business owner that will not be using your service.

I am just glad I made a backup of the feeds, which only now in the latest version of NetNewsWire do I find can't be imported. Very clever Newsgator, nice one!

As far as I know the migration process doesn't delete the stuff on NG, so if you login to www.newsgator.com or use an old build, everything will be intact. At least until the 31st of August.

If you look in [home folder]/Library/Application Support/NetNewsWire/ExportedClippings/ there is a backup of your clippings from before the migration.

Found out that GR does have this functionality; they call it Clips. Read here for more.

You can share Clips from any folder or tag.

Search for: Customize Google Reader Clips for tips on, well, customizing your Clips.

I have lost all my clippings too with the upgrade. I have recovery my clippings in another computer where i didn´t upgrade Netnewswire but there is no way to export all my clippings (about 500). I payed for netnewswire (some time ago it was not free) and i doesn´t matter if i have to pay again, but I don´t want to use Google and lost my clips. I think it is a really bad idea to invite to upgrade and delete all the clips from the users, is there any solution in the way or anything?
Clipping was one of the best features of newsgator in my oppinion and I think it is not good to kill it. Even if Newsgator is planning to be bought by google or whatever should be good to give to the users the option to export them or something, it is a lot of work going to nowhere

Keep an eye on http://nnwbeta.com/ - Brent just released an update that shows clippings again, and if you look down the page a bit even the original beta kept a clippings backup in [home folder]/Library/Application Support/NetNewsWire/ExportedClippings/.

It was a very bad idea, yes. I don't know why NG told everyone to upgrade when the NNW beta had only just been released that day (and FD isn't really ready either). It was far too early.
