Hello,
Due to the e-mail that was posted in NewsGator on August 1, I went ahead and opened up an account on Google Reader and synced the two together successfully. I had already had a FeedDemon account but rarely used it because I had access to NewsGator. I do not have the enterprise so it looks like I will not be able to use NewsGator after the end of this month. Would I be correct in saying that?
Before August 1, my feeds were already going into FeedDemon from NewsGator. Another question I now have is do I need to sync Google Reader & FeedDemon together so that all three will be synced together. (NewsGator, Google Reader & FeedDemon)?
Since I will not be using NewsGator in the future which is the better of the two to operate from Google Reader or FeedDemon?
Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you,
JM

jmonahan (8/4/2009) Hello,
Due to the e-mail that was posted in NewsGator on August 1, I went ahead and opened up an account on Google Reader and synced the two together successfully. I had already had a FeedDemon account but rarely used it because I had access to NewsGator. I do not have the enterprise so it looks like I will not be able to use NewsGator after the end of this month. Would I be correct in saying that?
That is correct, after this month you will not be able to use NewsGator Online unless you are an Enterprise user.
Before August 1, my feeds were already going into FeedDemon from NewsGator. Another question I now have is do I need to sync Google Reader & FeedDemon together so that all three will be synced together. (NewsGator, Google Reader & FeedDemon)?
I really believe the answer is based on personal preference. We're not requiring that you synch with Google reader, you can continue to read, subscribe and clip articles using FeedDemon without any interaction with Google, it's an added feature we're now offering. You may want to continue to synch between NewsGator online and FeedDemon to make sure all your feeds are being update properly for a few days and once you're satisfied or have not identified any issues we may have overlooked, then you could stop synching with NG online as well.
Since I will not be using NewsGator in the future which is the better of the two to operate from Google Reader or FeedDemon? Again this is a personal preference question, but as of now I have only used FeedDemon and enjoy the wide variety of features it offers. I have not used Google Reader due to the fact I could use our online reader.
I'm sure others would be more than happy to provide feedback on Google's Reader.

One other issue when deciding to sync/not to sync is that FeedDemon supports authenticated feeds, whereas Google Reader doesn't, so you'd still need another feed reader application to read those types of feeds
