Hi.
My RSS feeds are currently 1150. Before upgrading NNW I exported them all with groups and all. To have more options I did it export in few different ways.
Now, Google Reader does not read the OPML file correctly and thus it's not right in NNW. Besides, all groups and subfolders are a total mess... almost total. And there are several feeds missing when I compare NNW to the OPML file.
I am tempted to sort my feeds again now into subfolders and groups but since it's close to madness I would like to know if I will be able to use my OPML file directly into NNW some day? If so I would just collect new feeds separately and sort it when the day comes. Will there be a long wait?
Regards,

Google Reader has no support for subfolders. Brent is working on making subfolders still work in NNW. The workaround is that folders will use EM dashes between names in GR and appear as folders with subfolders in NNW (and, I'm guessing, NNW for iPhone). So, for example if you have a directory structure like this:
Folder
- Subfolder 1
- Subfolder 2
- - Sub Subfolder 1
- - Sub Subfolder 2
In GR, it would look something like (note that I'm using regular dashes here, but they'd be real EM dashes in GR):
Folder
Folder-Subfolder 1
Folder-Subfolder 2
Folder-Subfolder 2-Sub Subfolder 1
Folder-Subfolder 2-Sub Subfolder 2
Keep an eye on nnwbeta.com. b14 is the current version available on the site, but you'll need one newer than that, probably b18 or higher. As soon as you see something newer than b14 go ahead and download that and see if your folders are better behaved.
In the meantime, NewsGator Online sync is still available until the end of the month, so there's really no need to muck about with betas at all right now. If you stick with the current release version - 3.1.7 (also available on the nnwbeta.com site if you don't still have a copy) - you should be fine for a few more weeks.

Thank you for a quick and very detailed answer.
This solution is fine with me. I like dashes
I can never resist a beta when I can get one and I like what I see. I am pretty sure the aim is to make a better NNW when final version is released.
Btw. I sent a feature request through the beta. Hope that comes through. It is a request to widen up possibilities to use date in filtering. Like in Smart Lists to be able to filter out, lets say, last 24 hours etc.

sigurarm (8/10/2009) Btw. I sent a feature request through the beta. Hope that comes through.
If you used the feedback function within the NNW beta, then it should reach Brent. I know that's one of his preferred means for getting feedback right now.

Great. That is what I did. Just wasn't sure if that feature was working fully. I took a U-turn and reinstalled the old version of NNW just to keep my sanity for a few days more. I really felt the need to check out some/many of my feeds.
But keep up the good work. I am sure this will be great in the end.

| I understood the above interchange, but it seems one thing wasn't answered. Assuming that I export my OPML file through NGO, is there a way to "repair it" so GR will accept the document when I go to import?

While the beta test is ongoing I export my OPML from the beta. Then I open the old 3.1.7 NNW and import the OPML file and then update it to the latest beta. And I do not sync to GR. Tried it but it still messes my feeds and does not show them all.
I found this way to be ok, using the latest beta and still have my set up. No matter what I try, GR only makes a total mess and I can't spend more time in trying to repair it. But I am optimistic.
