Hi, me again. Would it be possible to keep all unread items in the feed (thus even the ones that are not in the current feed any more) untill read? Hans

Hans, When on the NewsGator Online page there is the buttons: ...Select older posts. Is that what you’re asking for?

Not quite. Older posts will select all previous entries, I want to have the unread previous items.

Ok this is a bit of the reason I came here. I have not been using the Newsgator outlook version for about a week since reinstalling windows. Now I can not work out why feeds that get large volumes only show 15 or so unread items. Some feeds go into the hundread or so a day. Why am I seeing this? I would think if I visited the online service daily I would at least see all unread items for that day. I repeat that I have no other access to Newsgator Online other than the browser on one computer so it is not something else marking items read.
Thanks
Ian

Ian - in current builds (both 2.0 and 2.5), it will only download "current" content (the same content you'll see when you click "current posts" in the web edition). We've kicked around the idea of being able to download "older" content into Outlook and other sync-enabled applications...it won't be in the initial 2.5 drop, but it's something we could add after that without modifying the client.

Sorry Greg for the confusion but I was just pointing out that Outlook was not involved in the online activity I was seeing.
I want to know why I only see a few items unread when I go online even with ones that get a large amount of items. Eg 100 a day and I only see 15. I can view them all by clicking older posts even though they are more recent.
What I would like to see is the option to see is an option to show a customisable by feed number of posts or feed items for the last x days that are unread.
I can see all the feed items by clicking on older posts but that does not have a filter to remove unread posts.
Hope I was a bit clearer this time.
Ian

Ah, I see...somehow I misinterpreted. "Current" means the content is still active in the source feed, while "older" means it's not actually in the feed any more. It's a somewhat arbitrary distinction on our side, as you've found. You're right, it's not ideal for feeds that completely roll over several times per day. We've looked at doing things like you suggest; however, at some point there's a tradeoff where if a user hasn't seen the content for a certain number of posts, or a certain amount of time, it's better to just retire it to the archive. Thanks for the suggestion though...I'll pass it along to my team and see if it sparks some ideas.

Any kind of ETA on this feature for NGOS? I moved over here from bloglines because of the manually marking things a read feature (as well as some other niceities ). However, this is killing me, as sometims I don't get to a feed for two or three days and I need to know when my last read post was. This seems to be something pretty simply to fix, as it's really easy to go see what's older than what I have marked as unread. I'd almost consider it a bug to be perfectly honest that it sets my unread count to the number of items the RSS feed is providing. If you coudl fix this, I'd be golden with NGOS . Thanks.
