Since I can't post in the Inbox-forum anymore, I'll do it here. Does anyone know an alternative to Newsgator Inbox for Outlook (2007) that also lists the RSS feeds in a tree, that works within Outlook and that syncs unreads with Google Reader or with the iPhone?
Newsgator Inbox was such a unique product, I'd gladly pay for it, but they killed it. Why, oh, why.
And I can't find ANY alternative within Outlook 2007. When you Google, you only get a silly trick that allows you to set Google Reader as Outlook home page. Not what we want.

I wish Inbox was sticking around as well but unfortunately there just isn't enough interest to justify the work to get it syncing with Google Reader. (I was the lead developer for Inbox)
As for alternatives, my own quick search also shows nothing. I'll keep an eye out and post back here if I find anything. But hopefully someone else has found something.

I honestly don't understand. You had the one and only unique product that integrates RSS feeds into Outlook, doesn't use the quirky RSS function of Outlook itself and syncs with an online interface and with the iPhone.
Now you're becoming one of many software solutions that sync Google Reader with the iPhone and one of many stand alone RSS readers on the desktop. Such a pity!

what's to understand? If no one but a few people use it, what sense does it make to devote time and effort to continue developing it?

That's quite short sighted. And any way, we don't need new features, we just want the same. So there isn't a lot of development needed, and maybe one server running it...
