Do clippings folders synch with Google Reader? I got a new computer, and installed FeedDemon, and everything else synched, except for my clippings folders.

No, they don't. They were an NG feature that's not in GR. They are now deprecated in FD.

So what would be an alternative to this? Starring?

Starring is the simplest alternative, but you may find tags to be a more suitable replacement if you had multiple synched clippings in the previous version of FeedDemon.

Actually tags is not a good replacement at all. At least not that I can tell. It doesn't list the individual items the way a feed is listed, which is how I prefer to see my clippings presented. A long set of tagged items that I have to scroll through if there is a lot of items with that tag is useless for me.
It really sucks that the clippings folders can not be synched.

Can you elaborate, because Tags appear the same was at Clippings did for me. I select the tag, and I see all the items that have the tag in the newspaper.

Jack,

Unlike clippings, they don't appear in the folder view, just in the newspaper. That may be what khristopher means.

Another possibility is to use the shared items. Despite the name, shared items need not be shared with the world; if you wish you can ensure that they are protected in Google Reader. The big drawback is that there is only one folder.

P.S. Nick: I just noticed that the "My Shared Items" newspaper shows "Subscriptions \ Clippings Folders" at the top left.

Ah, totally missed that he was talking about the News Item List panel. Thanks, Alan.

I tried setting the Shared items to private, but it is not allowed to be done.

Is there a file I can copy to my new computer from my old one that will load my old clippings and clippings folders in to my new computer?
