I am coming back to FeedDemon as feedreader version 3.14 is quite bad at managing favicons and makes all my feeds look the same.
I have a few questions about favicons in FeedDemon:
1/ A favicon may show in FeedDemon 3.0 in front of a feed, but when I go to Google Reader, it shows the default favicon. Don't you also synchronize feed favicons?
Looks are very important, and having feed-specific favicons can improve a lot the user experience.
So it is confusing to have the right favicon in FeedDemon and not in Google Reader.
2/ Could you explain how FeedDemon picks up the favicon in front of feeds. Do you just use the homepageURL and try to fetch the icon from there?
I tried to override that logic by making a feed with the < icon > tag sub-element of < feed > as described in the atom spec http://atomenabled.org/developers/syndication/#optionalFeedElements
But it seems that the favicon is still fetched from the homepage URL.
Could you explain me one way to build a feed that forces FeedDemon to fetch the favicon somewhere else than the homepage URL? I really need this.
3/ In the bottom left corner of each favicon in FeedDemon, there is a small blue RSS logo.
What is this for? Can it be removed so as to see the full favicon?

1. I don't believe Google Reader supports favicons.
2. If I recall correctly, FeedDemon will try to load the favicon from the website, and also from the feed if it's set. It may take a bit of time for the cached icon to update if it changes on the site.
3. If you're in Folder View, the rss icon appears on the folder, since synchronization is controlled at the folder level. If you're in Feed View, then the rss icon will be on the favicon itself to indicate that the feed is synched, since you can have a mix and there's no way to tell what folder a feed is in in Feed View. As far as I know, there's no way to disable this.
