Have you Newsgator guys actually ever used FeedDemon with it's "Surfer" style? It's common there to read the "Folder Newspaper", and have the grouping options by date, feed or none. And I'm probably not alone to wish for something similar online in your "integrated device independent experience".
Exactly! ::cough:: Bloglines, too ::cough::
It's a matter of efficiency. I've been asked, "how do you keep up with 500+/- feeds?" Well, that's how. By organizing them by category into 15+/- folders and reading/skimming 50 articles in each folder rather than clicking 500 times to read one or two articles at a time.
It's just my mindset whem I'm reading. There are few times that I'm thinking "Let's see what so-and-so has to say today" but most of the time it's "Let's see what's going on in the world of today"
When I'm in FeedDemon, I read by Newspaper in the "Surfer" style as I would venture most folks with the lastest version of FD and a lot of feeds do by reading the FD beta forum. Even when I sort by date (I prefer to sort by feed) I get the info about the feed *before* the article text (just under the title), not after. I want that in NGOS too.

So when you read a folder-at-a-time, and there are multiple feeds in the folder, the contained items are sorted by publish date, and are not grouped by feed. I'm guessing from some of these comments that some of you would want the ability to group by feed within this folder view? Just wanted to throw in a me too for this. Got used to it with FeedDemon and now I find it distracting to read feeds any other way (that I've tried anyways).

Why I don't click on individual feeds? Because I simply don't want to do it. If I wanted so, I probably didn't need a feed aggregator. Why do I have to click on 96 feeds? Or on 12 folders? Why not clicking on a single link, and having all the feeds separated if I want?
By now you give only the opportunity to sort all posts by date regardless of feed. Bloglines gives only the opportunity to sort post first by feed and then by date. If you give both possibilities, you'll be better than Bloglines. Isn't this a good reason?
I also think that a user wants to know first what topic he is dealing with, and then what's new in that topic. A big list of scrambled posts, with a very difficult to read feed reference at the bottom of the posts themselves - so in some cases you read the post without knowing who posted it - confuses the user, IMHO.

In Web Edition you will see the feed banner when looking at the feed themselves at the top of the page. I have attached a screen shot.

You and others bring up great suggestions and it is appreciated. Since this thread has gotten rather large I wanted to consolidate the requests. Really the subject has gone from Feed Banner to feature requests to enhance the Folder view. So to review we have so far.... - A folder view similar to FeedDemon surfer view.
- A folder view that incorporates the new features that the feed banner provides.
- Options for different views. (that one was mine
) - An ability to sort feeds other than by date, such as publisher.
- A mini banner in the folder view
- Know the feed item source (and other pertinent information) right up front instead of having to scroll to the bottom of each item.
- Be able to unsubscribe from the feed the feed item refers to.
- Feed colours. If we could select a background colour for each feed source, they'd be easy to distinguish in a mixed view. Three green posts followed by a red one, a green one and then a blue one...that sort of thing.
- Favicons. I urge you to take a look at your feeds in NewsBurst (http://www.newsburst.com). They put the source site's favicon in the source list and also next to each post - great idea!
Let me know if I missed anything.

When I read a group of feeds, I agree that it's hard to tell the source up front (since it's in grey after the post). I have a couple of suggestions:
1) Feed colours. If we could select a background colour for each feed source, they'd be easy to distinguish in a mixed view. Three green posts followed by a red one, a green one and then a blue one...that sort of thing.
2) Favicons. I urge you to take a look at your feeds in NewsBurst (http://www.newsburst.com). They put the source site's favicon in the source list and also next to each post - great idea!
